Introduction: Chaos, Order, Opportunity.

“Even amidst chaos, there is also opportunity” – Sun Tzu

There is an ancient curse believed to originate from Oriental folklore – “May you live in interesting times”. You’re probably thinking, bring it on. Why be stuck in the passivity of the mundane?

It is a curse that doesn’t actually sound like one. As a modern society, we have embarked on various manners to essentially break from tradition. Since time immemorial – we can debate the origins of life later – people have looked for manners in which to disrupt the status quo of their known surroundings.

However, what we fail to realize is that within these “interesting” times. Through the willful disturbance of our environments, we open up the channels of new potential realities. I believe Robert F. Kennedy (less known than the WWE Wrestler Mr. Kennedy) said it best about these “interesting times” –

“They are times of danger and uncertainty, but they are also the most creative of any time in the history of mankind.” Robert F. Kennedy

Hence this curse, or rather the gift with the curse, sits perfectly in our cognitive blind spot. Since the rewards potentially gleaned from rejecting the predisposed modus operandi can bring with it the opportunity to advance society as a whole, not just the individual.

As a toddler, I was the most obsessed Spiderman enthusiast on the playground. Considering this was the early 2000’s Tobey Macguire is the ONLY Peter Parker/Spiderman I trust. However, there is a quote often repeated in that particular movie.

“With great power comes great responsibility”.

Considering that we are still dealing with a curse we have to interpret it as such still. It’s the ultimate back-handed compliment that doesn’t ever hit you. Since we are fallible creatures and often we will lose focus, grow weary, become disillusioned we begin to use our tools of creation with a listless purpose.

It is this balance between chaos and order that I hope to explore, using this blog as the vehicle. To walk the line between my own considered definitions of chaos and order. To balance those definitions against the widely held, yet ever-evolving social contract, the laws of my domicile and the spiritual inclinations thereof.

Through this, I hope to begin recognizing the opportunities within the chaos of life. While also understanding that there is an opportunity in chaos to create even more chaos. Which in itself is also relative to each person’s environment and what order, chaos, and opportunity mean for each person/group/family/team/community and country.

To be able to present my own expressionism in a manner that I hope is considerate of all beliefs and values is a responsibility that free expressionism requires. Please readily engage with me on all topics raised in the future.

Hey would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re using?
I’m planning to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a
tough time choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and I’m looking
for something unique. P.S My apologies for getting off-topic but I had to ask!
